Mentor and Pupil Dominate Laser Fleets at
81st FBYC Annual One Design

HYC Head Laser Coach Vir Menon and sailor Kyle Pfrang both were able to compete at the 81st Annual One Design Regatta at Fishing Bay Yacht Club this past weekend. Vir Menon competed in the Laser Full Rig class and dominated on Saturday winning all four races. On Sunday shifty conditions Menon with have to settle for some top five finishes. HYC instructor Britt Cortina finished 6th, and other HYC parents/members Keith Goodwin 7th, David Earl Hanna 8th, and Chris Pfrang 9th in the twenty boat fleet.

On the Radial course Kyle Pfrang won the event beating out FBYC Andrew Ciszewski. HYC 420 Coach Nathan Smith Finished third, not bad for the doublehanded coach. This is a testament to Kyle’s abilities, he has had several top finishes throughout the summer, however, this was his first regatta win the class. It was appropriate that both coach and sailor were able to win their classes together! GO HYC!
