HYC Sailors Take Gold at JOs! Qualify for Jr. Keelboat National Championship

HYC Hosts Successful Junior Olympics and CBYRA Clinic

This past weekend HYC hosted the Chesapeake Region’s US Sailing Junior Olympic Festival. Great racing, great competition, and over 103 boats! Hampton Sailors also performed very well. James Allgeier won the Opti Overall, brother Henry Allgeier won the ILCA 6 Overall. Parker Moore and Maddie Ballard were second in the twenty-two boat c420 fleet!!! Andrew Allgeier took home the Sportsmanship award.
In our Greenies Fleet, we are super proud to announce that Tucker Johnson sailed his first regatta alongside brother Wesley!
Andrew Allgeier (HYC) clinched gold in the ILCA 6 fleet, Reed McAllister took silver, and Kyle Pfrang (HYC) took bronze.

HYC Qualifies for Sears Cup, Chubb Junior National Keelboat Championship

The Chubb U.S. Junior Championship is U.S. Sailing’s National Championship for junior sailors, aged 13-18. The Championship is comprised of three fleets: singlehanded, doublehanded and quadruplehanded. This will be the 100th Annual edition of the Sears Cup, and the U.S. Chubb Junior Championships will be sailed August 10th-14th. The event will be hosted by Eastern Yacht Club in Marblehead, Massachusetts, the same venue that hosted the inaugural Sears Cup in 1921 and for which the trophy is named after Past Eastern YC Commodore, Herbert M. Sears.

Helm Kyle Pfrang with Crew Pierce Brindley, Parker Moore, and Kevin Li won the Area C Qualifier hosted by HYC on Monday July 12th defeating a team from Avalon Yacht Club winning the five race series with three bullets in the Sonar fleet.
