HRRT team member James Allgeier sailed a great event finishing in second place out of the 37-boat RWB fleet at Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach, NC this past weekend. James and his teammates consisting of members from HYC, FBYC, and NYCC and coached by HYC Head Optimist Coach Nathan Smith took home a lot of hardware!

Amelon Rule was the top overall female sailor, finishing 6th in the fleet. Super proud of all the great things this girl is accomplishing! She is a true inspiration among the green fleeters!

Bo Angus finished 4th overall, just one point off the podium. However, he was the First Place finisher among the Red Fleet (Age 13-15). Just behind Bo was teammate Justinas Petkauskas in 5th place overall.

For his first big RWB Fleet Regatta Will Chapman finished 2nd overall in the White Fleet (Ages 10 and under)

The regatta had some pretty tough conditions. Sailing in Wrightsville puts your right on the ocean so even when sailing in the sound there is not much relief from wind, currents, or swell. A huge thanks to NYCC who sent a large contingent of Green Fleeter sailors to SECs and who sailed a great event. The Green Fleet is the key to the future of the continued success of HRRT. The Coach, Sailing Director, and parents are very proud of these young athletes for a great weekend and look forward to more!

Brothers Finn and Harlan Webster getting some quality sibling time on a Sonar! These two may have a future in big boat racing, they love working on the bow!

Every once and while you need to keep the sailing FUN! Here is Sophia Lopez and Quinn Hulick having a “freestyle” race where they decided to sail their optis while facing backwards!
