Fall Sailing Returns with Double Handed Competition

A Return to High-School Style Sailing

In a twenty five boat fleet HYC junior program sailors Kyle Pfrang with crew Payton Yoder rounds first at the weather mark followed by sister Leila Pfrang with crew Bennett Parker hot on their heels in second!

It was a windy day on Saturday, gusting in the high teens so there were some capsizes to contend with among this large fleet of high school aged competitors sailing at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club this past weekend. Seven out of the eight teams competing had at least one member that sailed with the Hampton summer program! IT’S AN AWESOME FEELING TO GET THESE KIDS ON THE WATER!!!

HYC has been working with sailors that attend two different high schools and practicing out of Youth Sailing Virginia to compete in the double handed fall regattas hosted by the Virginia Interscholastic Sailing Association..

A Return to High-School Style Sailing

Even though our HYC coaches are not specifically working with each team it was amazing to see a lot of summer program sailors competing and having a great time. Their training over the summer at HYC served them extremely well.
