HYC Annual One-Design Regatta 2020
NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES & ANNOUNCEMENTS
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020.
1.2 To accommodate appropriate social distancing, there will not be a Skippers meeting, social
gatherings or an awards ceremony. Sailing instructions will be posted online in advance of the event and all changes posted on the official notice board. Awards will be presented to individual teams at the completion of the regatta.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 The regatta is open to One Design Classes under 25 feet, including HOD, J24, Viper 640, 505,
Albacore, Sonar, Laser Full Rig and Sunfish classes Other one design classes desiring to sail with 3 or more boats contact Joe Buczkowski to be added to the registration page. Classes may be combined into one start based on number of entries but will be scored separately.
2.2 All participants including skippers and crew must complete the following online waiver in order to compete: https://hamptonyc.com/yachting/racing/waiver-and-release-of-liability/ any participant that has not completed the waiver will not be allowed to compete.
2.3 Due to COVID – 19 precautions no in person entries will be accepted. All competitors must register online through club spot at https://theclubspot.com/register/regatta/v814HGG3Jg/class Club members may elect to charge their club account for entry fee.
3.1 Regatta entry fee is $35.
4.1 The warning signal for the 1st race on July 11 is scheduled for 1000. No warning after 1230.
4.2 The warning signal for the 1st race on July 12 is scheduled for 1230. No warning after 1415.
5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
5.1 The sailing instructions will be available online. Hard copies may be available but all competitors
are encouraged to bring their own copy.
5.2 Starts will be defined in the Sailing Instructions. 505’s can expect to start utilizing class gate start
procedures and other classes utilizing rule 26.
6.1 Races will be sailed in the vicinity of the Hampton Flats.
Free launch facilities and boat/trailer storage are available at Hampton Yacht Club.
7 THE COURSES
Multiple windward-leeward races each day with long/short weather marks and gates to provide appropriate course distances and better racing for all fleets.
8 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
