“Women, Wind & Wine”
HYC Women’s Sailing provides an opportunity for women to sail in a fun, safe and supportive environment. The mission of HYC Women’s Sailing is to grow new women sailors of Hampton Yacht Club. Throughout the year, Women’s Sailing raise funds to direct toward the maintenance and improvement of the Club’s Sonar Fleet. HYC offers Women’s Race Series, Women’s Regatta and Women’s Learn to Sail classes.
“Women, Wind, Wine”: “Women”- We the women of HYC. “Wind” – The wind is always changing, and so are we. “Wine” – Our chosen symbol of camaraderie, it also means “No Wine ‘Til the Finish Line”. We are serious about supporting women learning to sail and the sport of sailing.
Women’s Thursday & Friday Night Race Series
We welcome you to come join amazing sailors in the race series of a lifetime. This race series allows any type of sailor, from beginner to expert, to participate on the HYC’s Sonars. Races are held on Thursdays and Fridays starting at 5:30pm between the months of May and September. Cost is $15/race or $15/month for 12 months for unlimited use of the Sonars (including Learn to Sail courses).
This is not your typical beer can race. Each new woman sailor gets an engraved wine glass and has access to buying the official HYC Women’s Sailing hats, shirts, and more. After each race, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place skippers and crew receive wine charms (based on what place they finished in) to add to their personal wine glass. At the end of the series, Women’s Sailing has a big End of the Year Awards Ceremony, which will occur on October 23rd, 2018 at 6:30pm. This ceremony cost $25/ticket.

Quick Skippers Meeting at 5:55pm
Push Off the Docks at 6pm
First Gun at 6:25pm
Debrief immediately after racing (meet by boats)

Before noon of each race, you must sign up to indicate if you will be racing. To do so, click on the date below that you would like to sign up for and sign up. Remember it does not matter who or which boat you sign up for, that will all be determined right before racing!
Women’s Regatta
This year HYC will be hosting official Spring and Fall Regattas for HYC’s women sailors on June 8th and September 29th, 2019. These regatta will have John McCarthy as the PRO (Principal Race Officer), official Race Committee, harbor starts, 3 full races and spectator boats. The winners will receive special wine charms for their trophy wine glass stem. The overall winners of both Spring and Fall Regattas will be awarded at the HYC Awards Night in December. Cost is part of the Adult Sailing Fee.

Deck yourself out in official HYC Women’s Sailing gear! We offer vests, dry mesh shirts, hats, magnets and wine glasses. Here is a sample of some of the merchandise we have to offer. We can either embroider the HYCWS with HYC burgee. Women’s Only Learn to Sail Course
Throughout the year, the HYC Adult Program will offer a women’s only learn to sail class taught by a female instructor. Dates for 2019: May 11-12 from 9am to 4pm or June 3-5 & 7 (4 days) from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. For more information about the course please click here.
