Any good racing program requires support from a group of dedicated volunteers giving their time to help run the races. Big boats, small boats, juniors racing….you name it. All classes and events need qualified, talented folks to support their racing. In addition, there are many spots and opportunities for inexperienced people to join and learn what the race committee work is all about. Whether you would enjoy working on the main RC Signal Boat or zipping around the race course in a fast, nimble mark boat, there is a spot for you. We urge you to get involved and experience the comradery of working together for a day on the water.
Our Race Committee Chair is John McCarthy, a U.S. Sailing Certified Race Officer and Judge. John is always on the lookout for folks, experienced or learning, who would like to get involved in our on-the-water race committee efforts. Whatever your level of ability and expertise, John will be delighted to get you involved and help you find a good fit for an enjoyable race committee experience. John can be contacted at (757) 850-4225 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, John is a US Sailing Certified Course Instructor and offers excellent training opportunities each winter for folks to brush up on their race committee skills plus enjoy his regionally recognized courses on the Racing Rules of Sailing. Course offerings anticipated for this winter will be posted soon.
