Fellow Members,If you haven’t heard the news yet, you’ve been binge watching too much Netflix in your jammies:

Hampton Yacht Club is thrilled to announce that Maxwell Plarr has become the club’s newest Sailing Director, effective immediately. Max was a standout sailor in college at Christopher Newport University and has served as the Head Sailing Coach there since 2012. Many of you know Max and know that his bona fides will serve the club well incoming years as we seek to grow our sailing programs. I am confident that Max will help us fulfill the mission of those programs to share the sheer joy of sailing with potential members and youngsters alike. Welcome aboard, Max!I can’t wait to collaborate.

I went frostbiting on one of our club Sonars 2 weeks ago, and I have to say that I had an absolute blast! If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend getting out there. The temps were mild, the wind was howling, and the personalities were amusing, as always. Thanks so much to Lee and Ann Fairchild for keeping this fun activity going this winter, and giving us all the opportunity to get out there and keep up our skills through the off season.

If you enjoy the Wine Tastings, better get your name on the list for the next one you want to attend. We’ve been selling out, with waiting lists every, single month. The success of both this event and the Birthday Bashes speak to the colossal talent we have in the kitchen. Try it; you’ll like it! Our Commodore’s Dining Room is truly shining through the local restaurant scene, with beautiful surroundings, stellar scenery and tasty victuals.

As we prepare the schedule of events for upcoming months, I’m reminded of how active this club truly is. There’s something scribbled on Rich’s calendar every weekend, and an impressive number of weeknights. Even as I write this on a rainy 100th day of February, boats are moving in and out of the docks, folks are out and about, and the club feels alive. With this much action in February, I’m getting truly excited about what’s on the horizon for us this spring and summer!
