Is Your Teenager Interested In High School Sailing?

If you are a high school sailing team or a high school student wanting to start a sailing team, please contact us to help set up your high school sailing practices.  This is organized on a school-by-school basis and we are more than willing to work with your individual school’s needs.

We have 10 420s, multiple coach boats, a great classroom and a very qualified coach in both Fleet Racing and Team Racing (if you need one).

Prepping for a keelboat regatta? We have 3 symmetrical spinnaker Sonars ready for practice. Get even more practice by racing in HYC’s Wednesday night races. Pricing is $5 per sailor per practice.

Talk to us today and let’s get your sailors out sailing!

We currently support Nansemond Suffolk Academy, Walsingham Academy and Norfolk Academy.

VISA History

Known as Virginia Interscholastic Sailing Association, VISA has helped local high schools organize highly competitive regattas in the spring and fall. These teams are also a part of Mid-Atlantic Sailing (MASSA) and compete with 54 member high schools from Virginia north to New York. Many of the schools award letters for the sport, which provides a high level of support for their team. Usually a season consists of six regattas, with the fall season beginning in September through October and the spring season beginning in March through May. Regattas are held at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club (NYCC), Youth Sailing Virginia and Christchurch School near Urbanna.
