October Membership Program

Monday, October 9, 2017 at 7:30 PM

Please join author/historian Greg Siegel to learn about Hampton’s Streetcar 390 at the Membership Meeting on Monday, October  9th.  The streetcars were a link on the Peninsula. Traveling from Buckroe Beach to Victoria Boulevard, into downtown Newport News and up toward Hilton Village, thousands loaded into the vehicles every day in the 20th century.  Forty-two streetcars ran their course over 40 miles of track through the two communities. Only one streetcar remains, the 390!

Mr. Siegel will give a brief history of the Streetcar and how it led to the development of Peninsula neighborhoods.  He will also give a preview of the exciting new display space planned for the Hampton History Museum which was designed by HYC members Ron and Carrie Quinn of
Q-Design architects based at Ft. Monroe.
